One of the aims of the St.Petersburg School of Religion and Philosophy is to improve and further develop different forms of SPECRS public interaction in the forms of educational, scholar and social programs on the basis of knowledge of the religious roots of contemporary science.

The crucial idea of SPECRS is that scientists, educators, scholars and educational leaders, managers and businessmen are to be integrated in a process of preparing future scientists and specialists in their responsible role to develop science for the sake of life and God’s will. The aim of this integration is to motivate all people involved in science policy and scientific research, including students, future scientists and those matures, who were raised during the atheistic past, to learn of spiritual quest of professional scientific activity, why and how it influences research, ethical thinking, and the surrounding world in general.

 

Now we would like to implement the SPECRS declarations on the level of the academic research institutions, through innovations in educational curricula and methods, translations into Russian of important discussions in the West and the usage of new technologies of INTENET to open academic attitude towards new developments in science and society.

 

SPECRS is the place in St.Petersburg and “SPECRS’ Workshops for Academic and Civic Groups” project is just that kind of project, supported by the METANEXUS Institute(www.metanexus.net)/Local Societies Initiatives (LSI), where professionals get the opportunity to share their views and to master their knowledge in discussions, conversations and round table meetings.
